Must-have items for your wardrobe

Next time you take stock of your wardrobe, consider whether you have the essentials covered. Do you need a good pair of jeans, a good occasion dress, and a few casual items you can slip on when you’re rushed for time? If not, we have you covered, as we pinpoint six essentials that’ll transform your wardrobe. Bear in mind that we’re looking at garments here, not shoes, though we may cover that topic in a future article.

Romper

Rompers, also known as playsuits, are a must-have addition to your summer wardrobe. They’re designed to be comfortable (so you can “romp” or “frolic” in them) but classy enough to wear out in the evenings too. Our lime green romper has a flounce ruffle collar with a frayed raw edge, chunky wooden buttons and a flared wide leg. In the end, it’s a versatile performer for those hotter months.

Denim jeans

The classic denim jean dates back to the 1800s and has been a must-have item for almost the entire time since. One good pair of denim jeans can last a decade, though be careful about washing them too often, as the water in the washing machine can cause the color to fade. As an aside, did you know that the word “jean” comes from the city Genoa in Italy, where the cotton corduroy – known as jean or jeane – was produced?

Mini skirt

Mini-skirts can be paired with heels, boots, sandals or sneakers; they can be dressed up or dressed down – in short, they’re super versatile and a look that women have been wearing for years. They date back to the 1960s and are most often associated with designer Mary Quant, who spearheaded the “Mod” look in London. For a bit of ‘60s flair, consider our metallic mini skirt.

Blazer

Blazers aren’t only reserved for men in suits. Instead, they can be a seriously sophisticated addition to your wardrobe. Our oversized double-breasted jacket comes with a lightly padded shoulder, side flap pockets and eye-catching tortoise buttons. It can be worn buttoned up, open, or with a belt keeping it closed. Available in black, pesto or custard, it’s a look for every season, and no matter the weather, a good blazer can be worn all-year round.

Occasion dress

A free-flowing midi dress – preferably in black – works for engagements during the day and night. Like many of the other items on this list, it’s versatile, so it can be dressed down with a summer hat and sandals or dressed up with jewelry and heels. Our embroidered midi black dress has your bases covered here – it offers a sophisticated and demure look. Or, if you’d prefer something a bit more risqué, try our textured satin mini dress with its pleated bodice and surplice neckline.

Casual pants

For those hot summer days and nights, you want a pair of casual pants that are easy-to-wear and chic to boot. Aim for something with an elasticated waist and a relaxed fit. Our cropped plait pants come with a removable tie belt for an extra sophisticated edge.
